On Palm Pilots and Palm Pilot Books

Palm pilots are amazing electronic devices, capable of being used for different functions, all packed in one item. First off, palm pilots are basically Personal Digital Assistants, which are hand-held devices which are geared in the management and organization of a user's schedules and appointments. The "palm pilot" title hails from the first generation of personal digital assistants to come from Palm, which was termed the Pilot series. Introduced in 1996, the personal digital assistant line was so popular, its name stuck, being used as the vernacular term, defining and describing personal digital assistants.
As hand-held devices, palm pilots are portable electronic devices, which, depending of course on which model and brand, could work as an organizer, a mobile phone, a digital camera, a portable entertainment device, a portable storage device, a portable reader for books, and as a portable gaming console.
As items geared for image capturing, there are a number of palm pilots out in the market today which come with integrated digital cameras, enabling users to take pictures with their portable palm pilots, negating the need for them to bring along their dedicated digital camera devices.
As mobile phones, most palm pilots recently introduced into the market now feature the capability
of functioning as mobile phones, again negating users the need to carry with them separate mobile phones, as their palm pilots already are mobile phone devices, capable of handling mobile communications.
As portable entertainment devices, palm pilots shine, as they have no problems in dealing with compressed audio and video files, of course, utilizing memory space, as well as entertainment media codec technologies.
But one thing about palm pilots has recently called for attention, in the form of books. books are basically what their titles have to say about them. They are books, meaning books in electronic format, designed to be read using one's device. There are actually a number of classes of books out in the market today, defined by the class of files that they are. There are PDFs, PDBs, and even DOC or TXT books, which could be opened, read, set bookmarks on, and closed once again.
